Review & Swatches: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Radiant Magenta
Hourglass are really making waves in my makeup collection since the kick off of 2014. You might remember my slight obsession with their then limited edition (now permanent) setting powders palette and more recently the stunning peachey blush Dim Infusion from their new-ish range of blushes. Well, I've only gone and done it again, this time with the jaw-dropping shade that is Radiant Magenta

The range of blushes are a hybrid of the original Ambient Lighting Powders combined with a blush colour pigment, that promise a lightweight, radiant, and soft-focus finish. Each powder is also unique in form and the way which it has marbleised. I've been lucky with both powders in that I feel there is sufficient pigment on the top layer - something I know others have had issue with. Though I have a theory that each blush is made of the same ratio of powder and pigment, and so it will eventually balance out!

It can be applied more sheer or built up to a very bright finish, meaning it will work great for a wide range of skintones. I've been applying this using my Wayne Goss no.2 brush (review here). Though, I find that because it's such a beautiful shade I end up layering and layering and then toning it back down with my foundation brush - it's just so darn pretty! It blends beautifully and lasts really well on the skin too. See it applied to my preferred finish in the photo below.

It struck me sorting my new makeup storage that I own many many blushes, and I have some fantastic budget ones which I adore. Nevertheless, I agree entirely with the brand's description of these blushes and both Radiant Magenta and Dim Infusion now hold a very special place in my makeup collection. I ordered mine from SpaceNK using the marvelous Parcel Motel delivery service.

Though the blog may suggest otherwise, I am a woman on a budget. Makeup, however, is my weakness (see blog title). 99% of the time, my splurging is makeup related. This is why I own about 5 outfits, but more makeup than one person could go through in a lifetime. These Hourglass blushes are fairly pricey (£28), but they are comparably priced to Benefit's boxed blushes (of which I own many) yet appear so much more luxurious! Following this fiercely logical point made by Cherry Sue, I rid my guilt of slowly collecting all 6 shades...

Have you tried any Hourglass blushers yet?

  2. Holy mother they look absolutely divine! Vivianna Does Makeup just posted a video using Dim Infusion and it's so fucking pretty. The sooner Space NK hits Grafton Street the better although I have a feeling my wallet won't be so grateful. I'm also very guilty of splashing the cash on makeup while making do with clothes I have worn since my Leaving Cert. Eeeep.

    1. I adore Dim Infusion too! Think I might be gone before SpaceNK arrives there! I'm in the EXACT same boat clothes-wise - that's hilarious! :D

  3. I was SO close to getting this in Space NK, Dundrum a few weeks ago, and literally stood at the counter for about half an hour swatching it.. But in the end I decided against it as I'm more of a bronzer and highlighter girl most days, but oh my it just looks so pretty in the photos that I'm seriously regretting it now! x

  7. This looks lovely on you! I read a ton of negative reviews - think these are love 'em or hate 'em. Can't wait to get a chance to see 'em in real life to find out which camp I'm in.

    1. Thanks! I know - so much depends on the top layer pigment distribution I think! Weird one....let me know what you think!
