I'm not gonna lie. I've been making a list of beauty gift ideas since well before the 'acceptable' time. But I can't be held accountable; 2013 has been awash with so many super beauty products. So whether you're buying for the makeup addict in your life or just wondering what you might like to add to your own Santa list, here are my top extravagant picks (in no particular order).
It's been well established between myself and my other half that when we finally settle down, there will be a makeup room for all of my
crap wonderful makeup things! In the meantime, acrylic storage is a popular solution amongst beauty junkies. While Muji
is certainly on the more affordable end of the scale, if you've got the
cash to splash and want to support a growing Irish business, check out
this range available from (1) HerClutterbox. Available here (€115-€199).
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders
Another failsafe option which is also one of the most hyped products of the year comes in the form of (2) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, a brand which prides themselves on being completely cruelty free. The range of universal shade powders claim to capture, diffuse, and soften the way light reflects on your skin. Think photoshop in a finishing powder! Their limited-edition palette featuring three Ambient Lighting shades is the perfect lavish gift. This was available from SpaceNK.com (£56 + shipping), but is currently sold-out. If you can get your hands on it - do!
NARS Guy Bourdin The Crime of Passion Eye, Cheek & Lip Palette
Although some controversy has been attached to Guy Bourdin’s NARS collection (due to the theme of violence against women often depicted in Bourdin’s works), from a purely aesthetic point of view, the collection is a stunner. Palettes are a great gift and medium to try higher-end brands and (3) The Crime of Passion Eye, Cheek & Lip Palette would be my pick of the bunch. Available from NARS counters and online stores(€45).
Yves-Saint Laurent’s La Laque Couture Colour Collection
Nail addicts will go crazy for (4) Yves-Saint Laurent’s La Laque Couture Colour Collection offering 24 shades in one seriously extravagant box. Definitely one for the person who has everything. Available exclusively from Brown Thomas stores (€450).
Wayne Goss The Collection
You can never(ish) have enough makeup brushes and since word of their existence a collective swoon occurred among beauty-lovers everywhere. Hand-made, cruelty-free, and guaranteed fabulous (5) Wayne Goss The Collection would be perfect for any die-hard brush or Wayne fan. Major brownie points to be had with this gift. Available to UK & World here (£140) and USA here ($210USD).
Laura Mercier's Shimmer Effects Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Collection
Not quite as pricey as the bulk of these options, but I think (6) Laura Mercier's Shimmer Effects Mini Caviar Stick Eye Colour Collection is definitely an extravagant gift ('Caviar' is in the name for Christ's sake)! I've heard wonderful things about these and the tones are universally suitable. Loveliness. Available at Laura Mercier stockists (€40).
Clarins The Essentials Eye Make-Up Palette
Eve Lom Cleanser
Because skin is such and individual thing I'd be less inclined to recommend a product. However, for the skincare lover, the cult favourite (8) Eve Lom Cleanser could be a safe bet and is one I'd personally like to try. Better still, it's available in 3 different sizes to suit your budget, but the smallest size (50ml) would be preferable for someone trying for the first time. Available to buy here and at various online retailers (£50-£85).
So those are my extravagant beauty gift options for 2013. Stay tuned for an upcoming post on affordable beauty gift options.
Have any of these made it onto your list?
