Review & Swatches: Giorgio Armani Nail Lacquer Kaleidoscope (702) & Gio (301)
I've always been a strong advocate of budget nail polishes, believing that the broad colour range and affordable prices were all one could want for building a diverse nail wardrobe. I still believe that with a good base and top coat (I recommend Seche Vite) this could be the way to go. However, if you're into your nails or you just want to treat yourself to a swanky new polish I've experienced some beautiful high-end ones recently.  In particular Armani's Nail Lacquers have me excited about nail polish in a way that's quite unusual for me, or at least one shade in particular has!

Shades
Gio (301)* is a beautiful warm-red, with a smooth, glossy, opaque finish achievable with one coat (as pictured below). To me, this shade is MAC's Lady Danger lipstick in nail polish form. It's a fabulous colour for the upcoming Christmas party season but would also look amazing with a summer tan. A great all-rounder. We've been pretty involved for the past few weeks, in particular when I'm looking to spice things up at the weekend (just don't tell my weekday neutral - Essie's 'Not Just A Pretty Face').

Kaleidoscope (702)* is a reflective silver blue tone from Armani's Acqua colour trend. The colours from this particular palette offer a different reflection as light changes for a subtle, yet intriguing finish. I initially thought this would be a sheer wash to apply over a stronger colour, but in fact it's quite opaque on its own (see below). You can see it looks somewhat less smooth than the red, however this is due to the reflective nature which highlights the crevices of the nail as opposed to an issue with the formula itself. I must admit, it's not a colour I'd be particularly keen to wear myself, as someone who tends to opt for more wearable and 'safe' shades. However I can see this as ideal for adding some sparkle by dotting over a base colour or for using in more detailed nail art.

Application
The long thin brush means these polishes are extremely easy to apply; and as it holds enough product to cover the whole nail in one go, it's also a very quick application. The formula of these nail lacquers is described as 'a liquid that transforms quickly to a gel, that is fast drying with a high gloss finish'. Personally I find the formula to be extremely long wearing in comparison with others I've tried, lasting up to 4 days chip-free.

The quality is certainly there and I'd recommend checking them out if you're looking to splurge (€24.00 each). There's definitely one for everyone with an impressive 18 shades available in the range, touching on three colour trends: Acqua, Reds, & Beiges. Gio (302) is a fantastic colour choice which I am loving, but I also have my eye on Scarlatto (502) which looks to be the perfect autumnal berry shade.

Do you splurge or save when it comes to nail polish?
