Have You Backed To MAC?: My MAC Lipstick Collection

Tuesday, 31 July 2012

I am proud to say that I have acquired all, bar one*, of my MAC lipsticks through the Back to MAC exchange. Makeup can be expensive and with so many great affordable lipstick formulas out there it's one makeup product splurge I have a harder time justifying than say foundation. I've been meaning to do this post for a while, because if you haven't 'backed to MAC' or you haven't the jammiest what it is; then you my makeup-fanatic friend are missing out!

The 'Back to MAC' idea is basically this; in an effort to be environmentally friendly you can return six MAC primary packaging containers to a MAC counter (or their website) and in exchange you will receive one free lipstick of your choice! Sounds too good to be true? It's actually not! If you have empty foundation bottles, have depotted your MAC eyeshadows or blushes and have the remaining outer shells then be sure to save them up! It's an absolutely fantastic system! Six empty containers = one free lipstick = world makeup happiness!

It might seem crazy that I have acquired four lipsticks (i.e. 24 empty containers) through this but MAC actually makes up only a small portion of my makeup collection. I am not going through MAC products like socks. In fact I have only ever repurchased one MAC eyeshadow (I am on my third 'Naked Lunch'). What I have done is depotted the bejaysus out of my MAC collection (comme ça) and have in return gained a nice little lipstick stash, and more room in my makeup drawers - win, win. Here's a peek of my collection!

MAC Lipsticks (L-R): Hue, Please Me, Costa Chic, Vegas Volt, Lady Danger
MAC Lipsticks (L-R): Hue, Please Me, Costa Chic, Vegas Volt, Lady Danger
MAC Lipstick Swatches (L-R): Hue, Please Me, Costa Chic, Vegas Volt, Lady Danger
Hue (Glaze): Sheer nude.
Please Me (Matte): Blue-toned pink.
Costa Chic (Frost): Coral.
*Vegas Volt (Amplified): Bright orange coral.
Lady Danger (Matte): Bright orange-toned red.

There are of course a few more MAC colours I would love to add (Russian Red is next on my list) but I think I have a pretty good selection with what I have so far (see my entire lipstick collection here)

Have you 'backed to MAC'? What other shades must I have? All in the name of the environment after all! ;)
Swatch: MAC Vegas Volt  On The Lips
PS: Apologies for my absenteeism of late. I am up the walls at work, but although things will remain busy for me in September I hope to establish a bit more regularity with my posts if I can help it. Thanks for keeping with me! If you have any questions for me in the meantime let me know on Facebook or Twitter! :)
